Meet the tenants
Zak Adams is a 28 year old artist with an overactive imagination and the maturity of a 12 year old. He has dreams of being rich and famous from his art work, but finds reality has other plans for him. He has a love for things from his child hood, comic books, movies, and the blonde who lives upstairs.
Ed Fairbanks is the troublesome life long best friend of Zak. When he is not staying a Zak’s place, he lives in his grandmas basement. He was kicked out of his parents house for being to old to be living at home without a job. He thinks of himself as a player, but has a hard time keeping a date after they realize what a loser he is. He is a sports enthusiast (yes, he’s the guy yelling at the TV) and plays video games. He has a real competitive side.
Amithist (or Ami) is as beautiful as she is moody. She comes from a wealthy family but they do not approve of her lifestyle, or accept her for who she is. So she in return wants nothing to do with them either. She is in a loving relationship with her roommate Lizzy. She doesn’t like to many men but is OK with Zak. She loathes Ed and gets into constant verbal wars with him whenever she sees him. She has a Black Belt in Kickboxing and Jujitsu and is currently taking Kendo classes to support her love of Samurai swords. She works at a department store but wants to start her own line of Goth clothing.
Lizzy was a runaway from an abusive family life until she met Ami. She is a talented singer but her low self esteem keeps her from pursuing it. She is kind of gullible but can be a fireball when she gets angry. Guys are always hitting on her and enjoys letting Ami hit them back. She has a pet bat (people find that a bit disturbing) that she nursed back to health after it smacked into their window one night.
Eli Moore (Code name “Big Ben”) is a fugitive from Britain. He belongs to a highly skilled ring of International Hackers that span the globe. The FBI are trying to find him, but he is always a step ahead. He rarely leaves his Apartment. He hires a kid to do his shopping for him. He is a large man and very intelligent. He likes his alcohol and soccer matches. He builds tiny robots to clean his apartment for him, and also alert him of any intruders.
Julie Powell is a beautiful, ambitious local magazine columnist. She is organized and a perfectionist. She puts her work in front of everything else. She loves her independence and can come off as a real bitch, though she really isn’t. She is the dream girl of Zak, but she hasn’t even noticed him.
Professor Charles (Charly the Guru) is a brilliant man with a mysterious past, who gave up all of his belongings one day to travel the world and live off the land as a free man. He currently spends a lot of time living in the dumpster out side Zak’s apartment building. He is always a good friend to get advice from when Zak is in a slump. Everyone but Zak thinks he is crazy, which is just fine by Charly.
Mr. Wong is a Chinese immigrant who misses his home country. He promised to take care of his daughters son when she was dying of cancer. He is a Kung Fu master and is very strict in the old ways. He loves to use the old fables as teaching aides.
Shawn Wong is a teen trying to be as American as possible. He doesn’t care about his grandfather’s ancient Chinese secrets, and doesn’t remember anything about his parents. His Mother died when he was a baby, and his father left back to China for a job opportunity. He loves skateboarding, video games, and American junk food (which he doesn’t get at home).
The Landlady (Beatrice) is a lonely feisty alcoholic. She comes on to every guy in the building. She tries to hire Zak to fix things so she can watch him work. She is lazy and a horrible landlord, yet she seems to get away with it somehow.
Spider Girl (Gretchen) — Is a German goth chick with an obsession for the Arachnids. She is Ami and Lizzy’s friend. Zak and Ed avoid her like the plague. Zak is deathly afraid of spiders and she enjoys freaking him out all the time with her little friends. She has an interesting background that the others are unaware of.
